What you should know before buying a caravan or motorhome

used motorhomes

Since the caravanning  appeared in Europe in the 60s of last century the number of vehicles has been increasing exponentially. In a post about mobility in caravans and motorhomes published by the General Directorate of Traffic in 2006, it is established that the user's profile is that of a person over 40 years of age, with a medium-high purchasing power and who travels about 200 days a year, with an average annual mileage of about 20,000 km. In recent years, things have changed: more and more young couples are opting for this way of traveling and groups of friends who decide to rent a caravan during the summer to move and stay during your holidays.

The wide range of new and second-hand caravans and motorhomes available means that each person can find a vehicle tailored to their needs and budget. If you are thinking of getting a motorhome, caravan or camper, from Comercial Caravaning We offer you some useful tips to help you make a good choice:

What type of caravan do I need?

Depending on your needs and the number of trips you intend to make per year, it will be more convenient for you to acquire one type of vehicle or another. If you want to make a smart purchase read our article about caravans, motorhomes and campers. In it you will discover the characteristics and benefits of each vehicle.

New or used?

Currently, there is a large supply of caravans and used motorhomes in perfect condition for an economical price. However, if what we are looking for is a custom-made vehicle specially equipped for us, without a doubt, the best alternative is to acquire a new caravan or motorhome. If we choose to acquire a second-hand vehicle, the most important thing is to do so in specialized sales areas, which can offer us guarantees and professional advice.

Interior equipment

Purchasing purpose influences the interior equipment decision. If we want a motorhome to move to a nearby campsite or to our usual vacation destination, it may not be necessary to include many extras. However, if we choose a motorhome to travel long distances and we want to do it safely, we will have to equip it with some complementary accessories. The basic equipment of the caravan or motorhome is the rest area, the kitchen and the bathroom, but if we want to visit inhospitable places or explore destinations that are difficult to access, it is best to incorporate, at least, a stabilizer and a heater. It also does not hurt to have a anti-theft system and we can even add some solar panels.

Whether you opt for one used caravan or motorhome As for a new one and regardless of the dimensions and features you choose, we recommend that you always request professional advice and that you demand guarantees from the seller.

Before buying a motorhome, it would be convenient for you to rent one to see if you really like that way of tourism because it is not suitable for everyone, there are things that certain people may not like and if you buy said vehicle and you realize it once the payment is made it will be too late ...
