Italy by caravan It is a safe bet to travel the center of the country and fall in love with it even more. Do you want to know what is the best route to visit central Italy by caravan?

From Rome to Genoa in 10 days

Here we propose a 10-day route making essential stops. Before starting your trip, if you are going to do it in winter, do not forget to take precautions in case it's cold and snowy. Although on this route we don't go much through northern Italy, you can always find adverse weather on the way.

The route starts from Rome, ancient Roman city, and seat of the Vatican to continue towards Siena, reference city of fantastic Tuscany. Later, visit Florence, city of Tuscany, and cultural, historical, administrative, and economic center of the region to reach Pisa, capital of the homonymous Province of Tuscany. Finally, we come to Genoa, a port city of reference for centuries, and of unparalleled beauty.

Rome - Siena

The most important thing to visit in Rome is the Roman Colosseum, the church of San Pietro in Vincoli, the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon of Agrippa, the St. Peter's Square and Basilica in the Vatican, the Sistine Chapel, and the Baths of Caracalla. Keep in mind that it is a fairly large city, with an abundant cultural offer, but you can spend three full days and visit the most important.

Where to sleep? Although it is a large city, it has several places to spend the night with the caravan. Of all prices and with all the necessary amenities, such as electricity, bathrooms, drinking water, wastewater drainage, surveillance, etc. You can check the list here.

To arrive by caravan from Rome to Siena It can be done by highway road in good condition. It is 234 kilometers, and the trip is about three hours on the E35In Siena you can spend a full day. You can visit the Salimbeni Square and Palace, Via Banchi di Sopra, Piazza del Campo, the Communal Palace, and the Cathedral. For sleep, there are also overnight areas that you can consult in this link.

Siena - Florence

And from Siena, we go to Florence. In just an hour and 10 minutes we arrived in Florence, a real open-air museum. In this Tuscan city you can spend two full days and enjoy its imposing architecture.

The essential points to visit are: the Cathedral of Santa María del Fiore, Palazzio Vecchio, the Basilica of the Holy Cross, the Uffizi Gallery, the Vecchio Bridge, the Barguello Palace, the Medici Riccardi Palace, the Neptune Fountain, the Chapel of Medici, the National Museum of San Marcos, the Leonardo da Vinci Museum, the Duomo Square, the Arno River, and the Republic Square. You are going to be amazed by the artistic and cultural climate that exists in this city. At least when we have been it has seemed a magical and exceptional place.

Florence - Pisa

From Florence to Pisa it's an hour and a quarter of a ride. You can choose this destination to spend the night, since there are more places than in Florence, such as this. In Pisa You can stay two full days and visit: the Nuova Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, Santa Maria Della Spina, Piazza del Cavalieri, the Church of San Esteban de los Caballeros, the Clock Palace, the Captain's Palace, the Carovana Palace, the Plaza de los Milagros, the Duomo Square, the Leaning Tower, the Cathedral, the Monumental Cemetery, and the Ciutadella Nuova.

Do not forget to take the typical photo holding the tower of Pisa, which is a classic!

Pisa - Genoa

Last stop on the route: Genoa. About two hours by coastal road, where you can appreciate the wonders of the fishing villages. In Genoa we spent the last two days of the trip. Here you can consult where to sleep. The essential places to visit are: the Royal Palace, the White Palace, the Genoa Lantern Lighthouse, Albertis Castle, the Spinola Palace, the Cathedral, the House of Christopher Columbus, the Porta Soprana, the Biosphere, the Dragonara Castle, and the Old Port. Up to here we go through the center of Italy in Caravan.
